AMKR- high beta, low float, & high short-interest ?!
The Beta of this stock is currently about 2.7. Years ago it was about 3. This means the stock is much more volatile than the market so it should be very swingy.
As for upside pop: if we ever get big AND unexpected good news- the low float, high short-interest, and generally high beta should cause an exceptionally large upside move.
However, In the long run, if this stock is good value (and that does not change) it should go much higher. As an investor, one of the key questions I would ask is: in your opinion, does AMKR offer exceptional value? I would also consider the high beta for prudent cash allotment (or if I simply want a big bang for my gambling dollar).
All stocks, large and small are manipulated, IMO. It doesn't take much to drive the price on this low daily volume. The price will go higher, just not in a straight line. Personally I would not short or margin this stock.
Wait for the CC on the 27th or buy more at a bargin price. The shorts can push it around on low volume days because of the low flow but they can't control the real value of the company. The big firms are just waiting for the CC. The short houses are loosing their shirts in this market.
