SBUX placed first in Washingtonian magazine reader survey of coffee bars. Second was XandO. For iced coffee drinks XandO placed first, SBUX second. XandO is in the Dupont Circle area. Anyone in my area know exactly where XandO is or been there?
Wash Post food section this week focused on fruit drinks taking the lead over latte. No mention of Tiazzi. Although the article focused on bottled fresh fruit drinks, I still found the absence of a mention of Tiazzi disappointing.
Only recent mention of SBUX in the Post was about a one-woman crusade to regain her job at SBUX. The woman, a long term SBUX employee, was (her story) fired for using her employee discount to buy a drink for a regular customer who had been out ill. Some regular customers were rallying to her defense. Another long term employee was fired for unknown reasons from the SBUX near Shakespeare Theatre. A good friend of mine is very upset because Ziggy (the guy who was fired) knew all the regulars and called out their drinks as soon as they entered the store. When we stopped there this past weekend we had trouble getting waited on. I actually had to ask if anyone was taking orders.
Sorry this isn't more positive other than the mention in Washingtonian magazine (a mention in the annual Best and Worst of Washingtonian Magazine is a big thing in this area).
Had no problem getting my free Tiazzi at Congressional Plaza this week. Maybe rockinmd and I go there at different times of the day.
