Capstone Turbine Corp. Message Board

    Tatneft...real or illusion?

Okay, everyone know that I am new here, but this really is a goofy message board.

Call me crazy, but when a gov't webpage in a Russian republic posts that a major Russian oil company plans to spend BILLIONS of dollars to implement an engineering program centered on microturbines, that seems like a great topic of discussion.

See snippets from August Tatneft Board of directors meeting:

Google "The Board of Directors of OAO TATNEFT Summed up Results for the First Half of 2012"

A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of OAO TATNEFT chaired by R.N. Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, was held in Almetyevsk on August 27, 2012.

30.4 thousand tons of oil were produced at Ashalchinskoye extra-viscous oil field during the first half of the year with an average production rate for the area amounting to 200 tons per day. The total production since the beginning of the field development amounted to 137.2 thousand tons of extra-viscous oil.

The gross proceeds from the sale of products shipped during the reporting period came to 257 billion rubles. The net revenues (excluding VAT and export duties) increased by 10 billion rubles compared to the same period last year and amounted to 161 billion rubles.

According to the results of the financial and economic activity 39 billion rubles were received, while the net profit amounted to 30 billion rubles. The amount of taxes and payments to all the levels of the budget for the reporting period made 151.9 billion rubles. The consolidated budget of the Republic of Tatarstan was credited with 12 billion rubles.

The meeting considered the results of Capstone gas turbines application for associated petroleum gas utilization in ZAO "TATEX". Implementation of these systems had proved to be effective and a decision was taken to apply the named units at the sites of OAO TATNEFT.

So, we have the President of Tatarststan chairing a board meeting at which a decision is made to "apply" Capstone turbines to the sites of a major oil producer.

    January 9, 2013, posted on a Tatarstan gov't website:

"OAO Tatneft allocated RUB 440 billion for the introduction of microturbine power units fuelled by associated petroleum gas. These units will provide a solution to the problem of gathering and utilising associated petroleum gas at the remote fields with low gas flow rates"

Does anybody here know the IR people at Capstone well enough to ask about this. The current SP suggests this is not real, but the events and public info above suggest something really gigantic gargantuan huge tremendous in the works.

Is this real or an illusion? Does anybody have thoughts on this?

    AIMHO, Gus
