Samsung, or some other patent-hungry giant, could wind up making a bid for the whole company eventually. There's a truckload of patents in play here, even apart from the Zoran/Oak Tech portfolio. CSR retains thousands of patents after the Samsung deal. These patents are in the areas of wireless communications, image processing, etc, many touching on the fast growing tablet/mobile phone space.
The Apple/Samsung outcome will add tremendous value of CSR's patent portfolio. It's now all-out war between AAPL, GOOG, Samsung, HTC, and everyone else in the space. The only defense weapons of any use are patents and a very large slice of the available patents are amongst CSR's thousands.
