Article in the Financial Times on Monday September 10 (page 19) states that proposals to impose deep cuts on the $75+ billion food stamp program could cut profits for food companies that rely on low-income customers. It also notes that the Republican-controlled House Agriculture Committee backed $16 billion in cuts over 10 years while the senate passed a proposal in June to cut food stamp funding by $4 billion. Yum! Brands has been trying to get a slice of the $ by getting legislation passed to allow its restaurants to accept food stamps.
The position of Vice President has no power to make excutive decisions including cutting food stamps. VP at his best only advises the President. Sorry you didn't get an education on civics. But that is to be expected as the communists have taken over our public education the last 30 years.
The Bush White House was run by Dick Cheney. He wielded a lot more control than the Pres, especially during the first 4 years. Don't underestimate the influence of a VP with a strong personality. A Romney White House will be the same. Romney doesn't have a clue what he's doing and will make Ryan's policy look like his own.
