more than ever. Ballmer apparently is an Idiot!! but even an idiot can sometimes figure out the obvious. Even without a Msft buy, Nok looks like it is holding some good news as it looks to be ready to break out to the upside---soon!!
I agree? Nokia is doing a fine job as a stand alone company delivering the best Windows phones. MS should purchase shares of Nokia to stabilize share price, increase value freeing up cash flow for Nokia to invest in Marketing the new OS. This would show the world that MS is serious about supporting the new Win phone. It takes time to gain market share and take the lead.
Nokia is a long term stock on the upside and the last thing Nokia needs is Microsoft to buy them to shut them down like they have done with the last 50 companies they bought! Microsoft needs to utilize Nokia as it's hardware arm and let them build the tablets and take the OS design and engineering in house at nokia. Give the Windows Phone division to Nokia and let them innovate it with a minority stake for MSFT. That is the ideal solution I think. It's a win win but if Microsoft buys Nokia; they will fail and shut it down like HP did Palm.
Yes, like Google is doing to Motorola. (purchased for 12 plus billion) Nokia is executing very well with a contract from MS. Tighten the bond with some equity shares. Put a little skin in the game MS. Nokia is showing the can run the race...run a little cover and stop the WSJ manipulators shorting this stock for quick money.
Ballmer is an idiot and is running msft into the ground. Should he buy Nokia? that's debatable. But what is not debatable is that the Nokia board made a huge strategic error tying their entire future to the whims of a company known to be the least innovative, slowest moving, bloated company on the planet.
Elop has done a good job at restructuring, but windows has been the kiss of death. Either sell devices to Ballmer, or start making competitive android phones for the 70% of the planet that wants them.
I agree ballmer is an idiot (a dancing monkey) and a cheapskate. He wants to get a steal from NOK but he is not going to. NOK and MSFT combined are a devices/software powerhouse. MSFT has, namely cash and A plus cheap credit, what NOK needs and NOK has what MSFT needs, namely mobile, good design and manufacturing. Ballmer toatlly blew it w/ YHOO which is way too expensive to buy now (he could have had it for $25 when it still has 43% of Alibaba) and he is doing same w/ NOK. $10 now would get it done (or buyin of 20% or so at $7 plus) and long run (and not too long) that is a steal for MSFT.
It seems that Ballmer wants Nok too cheap but for all that, if Msft doesn't buy nok than with the 100% share of NSN and Nok innovation in smartphones we probably are better off going it alone.
