After AAPL's announcement, Google will steal the show and offer $14.75, lock stock and barrel. And Google will have a back-office deal with Cisco to sell NSN for a decent price. AAPL gets jack. Sorry fanboy.
In the meantime, Icahn will miss the boat and start kicking chairs in the conference room.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Anything is possible. Slowly the others will realize what is going on here, and how MSFT can have it all if
the others do not move fast. Let the bidding wars begin!
Sentiment: Strong Buy
msft has it all -- now --. :-D
there is only 15% of the market for their o.s. left and it's split 3 ways.
msft has to expand it's market with almost no royalties coming in. they wouldn't have been forced to eat their best and largest vendor if there were any other bidders out there. who is going to bid for a handset business that already has all the sales there are and still can't turn a profit?
Granny smith has to stop
the blood letting..it would not
surprise me at all, I would love
it, cuz, it won't stop at 8,9,10
who knows, then hek Kim chee
throws their hat in the ring..i thought
this all along..i saw back in around
09, dietriech coffee went down and
they held on to their bean secret stuff.
just for that, it went from 4 to 30
just bidding for their beans , amazing
you may not be doing comedy but there is little to no drama to be had here either.
what's in it for apple?
the msft phone o.s. has gone nowhere so far.
especially if you look at it over more than just the wm to wp name change. most folks won't want to look at the larger picture. but will apple? they had to launch against wm back when it was a real competitor. they may not just ignore wm. but they comfortably could too.
and it's losing vendor support at a really fast rate. msft is about to lose 85% of their possible o.s. royalties with absolutely no replacement in sight. htc isn't healthy and samsung is content to just collect partner payments and play the fiddle while redmond burns. huawei is the big kahuna at this point. they are strong in china but the msft phone o.s. isn't.
it would be smarter to let it continue as it is than to make it look valuable by throwing more than 4 times the current bid at a handset division that can't make money.
bidding at all, much less way too much, is more likely to work against them than for them.
Apple has $145B cash - 100B outside the U.S. MS if anything has exposed what a difficult problem this is. It's beyond comprehension to sit on that much cash. And if you haven't noticed, Apple has just put the world on notice that the IPHONE is DEAD. I'm not being a lunatic here. You remember how quickly Nokia fell from grace? Apple is finished because their stale old tech is finished. The NOK problem was a simple one. CASH. The conspiracy to drive Nokia out of the phone business was effective, but miserably senseless. Apple fans were smiling as blakberry and Nokia self destructed. They overlooked the fact that they are next in line.
There are 2 players in this market linux and windows pick one or the other, or die. Apple can no longer compete with MS head on. They need a reliable parter, not some stinkin far east company.
