risk to capital ratio of less than 25:1

The risk to capital ratio would have been 25:1 if MGIC had $25 million less in losses in the second quarter. If the cure ratio is high enough, could MGIC be profitable in the third quarter?:

Would n't that be interesting if the need for a waiver went away because of a 25:1 or lower risk to capital ratio?

    • Hope your right I bought a slug today, hold RDN as well. Let me ask you this, what is your belief in that mTG and RDN will be able to add bacl loan loss provisions due to improving equity in homes? Sooner than later?

      Sentiment: Buy

    • the need for a waiver would go away, but not the freddie lawsuit, also, they have already reported an operating loss of about 80m in july alone, and unlike rdn they aren't denying thousands of claims a quarter, so they will probably lose at least 150m this quarter, so they have a lot larger hole than 25m to dig out of, i think they only had 83m in unrealized gains as of q2, so not enough, i guess if they downstreamed 200m and took all their unrealized gains they could get below 25:1 for q3, but they would still have to deal with q4 losses and the freddie lawsuit, and they are still under reserved even with a slight improvement in cure rates

      Sentiment: Strong Sell
