And just another point as to why this stock ever tanked in May/June the way it did and the short interest:
The company hyped the hiring of the head of RD, and probably along with the help of sell side analysts convinced institutions of great things to come. When the same person bailed just a month later, institutions who bought in or were fully invested for some time were a bit upset to say the least, and also started seeing risk. So they sold off. But the company sent out indications that the resignation was purely personal (which it may well have been) BUT that the upcoming results presentation in June would still be something to be excited about. Then when the data was not as strong as expected, a contingent of shorts went negative not just on the company's prospects but more importantly the veracity and credibility of management. Now a lot of this was the buy side reading into things, but a sizeable contingent decided to make a big bet against the company AND management. And then insiders decided to put their money where their mouths are and buy as a counter. The way it works people. Play the technicals/probabilities/share distribution and short interest/and fundamentals and opportunities all as part of your trading/investment.
