Ergen will for the first time open up the question and answer portion of the earnings call tomorrow. Also, reporters for the first time will be allowed to ask questions. Hopefully someone has the guts to ask specific questions about Blockbuster and his intentions.
Isn't the call at 12 est? I was expecting for some news to come out before market open...donno if they will reveal the Seinfield story before open and then address questions during call call at noon est...how do u figure this will be the first time Ergen will open it up for Q&A? I thought there was one other ER call earlier where he made the Seinfield comment...not sure if it was during Q&A or his prepared remarks...
Taz, is it me or doesn't anyone else find it unusual that Charlie now refers to Dish as a "video company"? This comment was specifically taken from the interview at D: Dive Into Media. I read that and I was like, "What?" With all his manuevering, plus the fact they are currently a satellite company, with a boat load of spectrum, but he chooses to call himself a "video company".
Japhet, I agree with inothings. The Hopper going national is the start of their video company. I did have to laugh at Ergens comments about competing with Netflix and falling behind because they were too TIMID to take a chance. That was the biggest bunch of malarkey that I have heard. Nobody is as innovative or willing to take chances than Ergen.
I think the " video company " comment has to do with the Hopper having a ton of recording capacity and the fact that it allows users to be able to view recorded content or Dish programming remotely with wifi connection and an app on your device ( mobile phone / pad / lap top). Saw a commercial advertising it last night while watching tv.
