I can order most of what I need for my dog thru amazon, with free delivery and wider choice. Is this another case, like Best Buy, where folks use the store as a showroom, only then to order the real stuff online? Staples suffers the same fate.
“PetSmart’s customer traffic has been declining due to the impact of its aging store base and growing e-commerce competition, which management was late to address,” Raymond James analyst Dan Wewer wrote in a note.
So, yes, it appears this analyst thinks Amazon is partially to blame.
Could be they are expensive. The other thing I note during a recent visit. Almost every product is made in China or Thailand or some other suspect country when it comes to treats. Every bag I picked up to see the country of origin none had made in U.S.A. With all the commotion out there regarding sourcing, I ended up walking out with 2 cans of Blue Buffalo. Had I been able to shop I might have spent an additional $50-60. Multiply that out, and it could add up to quite a bit. They need to work on their sourcing & pricing.
