    What's visibly missing

Well, plenty, but there's one thing that leaps out at me more than others. Tessera figures to get a decent chunk of the micro camera module market (they have some other useful IP in addition to MEMS..a dime each for their own camera or a penny each from someone else's, it still multiplies out to money). There are all sorts of things you can do with a "fly-eye" (many-module) camera--3D, true adjustable depth-of-field, lighting correction, many many more... Sure, the camera companies know that and are working away like..whatever on software for it. But Tessera isn't acting like they have an interest, and of course they don't say anything [At all. About anything.] Just seems like a fertile field for an IP licenser, (especially one with an interest in increasing demand for camera modules) and since the Israeli shop and the NC facility were dumped (rather than the Israeli staff being moved to a smaller shop in NC, which is what I would have expected to be the minimal visible sign of a fly-eye project), well, it just doesn't look like Tessera plans to participate.
