    TED PROJECT CYBORG 2/25/2013

I first learned about ONVO while working a gig at TED, Long Beach, a couple of years ago. Looks like Autodesk will be giving a talk (or two?) at this year's TED as well. I think the first talk was presented today, and TED usually tries to get it online for public viewing as soon as they can thereafter. So, another Organovo mention, 2/25 New York Times: "For Autodesk, A Step Into A Nanoscale World" by John Markoff

    • When is TED and how do you know Autodesk will be there to talk about their work with Organovo? Come on people, post your sources!

      • (And just to take it a bit furtherr, I didn't write that they were doing talks about their work w/ ONVO. I wrote they were giving talks at this year's TED. (And even that isn't 100% accurate, it's ADSK _users_ giving the talks)

      • TED started yesterday, February 25 and will run until March 1. The details about the two TED Talks were found within the (linked!) NYT article that I posted (above). Here are the excerpted paras:

The company will introduce its new nanodesign software vision in two talks to be given by scientists who have been working with the Autodesk research lab. One will be delivered by Skylar Tibbits, an M.I.T. architect and computer scientist who is to discuss biomolecular self-assembly on Tuesday. Jessica Green, a University of Oregon ecologist, is to speak on Thursday about design at the molecular scale.

Autodesk took its first commercial step into biological design last year with a partnership with Organovo Holdings, a San Diego start-up that aims to manufacture human tissues and organs. Autodesk software will be used to control a so-called bioprinter being developed by Organovo. It will initially have pharmaceutical testing applications.
