all this deflation talk.
I always chuckle at retirement calculators. My own personal retirement calculator started with a default setting "assume everything goes to heck in a handbasket", then work backwards.Has worked so far like a charm.
Deflation isn't just talk. The seasonally adjusted CPI was lower in June (216.929) than it was in December (217.224) of last year. That's six months of deflation so far.http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CPIAUCSL?cid=9In November of last year I turned deflationary. I'm still deflationary.http://illusionofprosperity.blogspot.com/2009/11/im-deflationary.html
If there is deflation out there ... then why is TIP rising?
I should also add that June 2010's CPI was lower than June 2008's CPI. Technically speaking, that's actually 2 full years of deflation.
