Rio Tinto is already using robots for mining .... this should reduce costs and increase production ... anyone with any feed back on when this will happen? Just a matter of time. We are entering the age of robots and CCJ looks like a no brainer for a big winner when they make the transition.
Well some robot manufacturers do list ccj as a past customer. They must have been using a lot of this for a long time now, remote controlled loading and hauling equipment has been around for so long that it would be seen as routine and nothing to bother talking about. For accurate mining it may not be as simple, but whole areas can be mined with vertical raise boring when it is too high grade to be safe for people.
