What's the catalyst? I don't get the valuation. Per Zacks: Motorola posted somber first-quarter 2014
financial results with both the top and the bottom line missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Lower contract
wins and sluggish economic trends have forced the company to slash its outlook and divest its Enterprise
Business segment. Moreover, phasing out of the iDEN network will act as a headwind for the company going
ahead. In our view, Motorola Solutions is currently trading at the high end of the 52-week price range. We
do not find any immediate growth catalyst for the company. We thus, downgrade our long-term
recommendation on Motorola Solutions from Neutral to Underperform.
Estimates are down from last year and down more next year. It's not cheap and it faces headwinds. Where's the beef? This looks like a good short candidate to me.
Sometimes, you just have to go with the momentum. MSI is an institutional BUY for long term growth. A little slow down in revs/prof does not hinder its prospects over the long term. Short if you must, or if you dare.
In my agency [fed], they purchase nothing but Motorola, and that is just one agency. Motorola is well on its way to $85 ps. in twenty four months.
