Yes, Buy and hold makes NO money for the Street - just buy good companies, perhaps reinvest the dividend, and hold. . .don't go on auto-pilot - buy and hold does not mean - buy and forget. . .but we have held some stocks in the family trust for 40 year (Chevron and Dow Chemical,e.g.) and reinvested the dividends. . .brokers don't make money on me.
Reply to: But IMO, bottom line, churning the market up and down is what it is all about. And that is why Joe Average investor is rightfully warned about trying to time the market, as most of them do exactly the wrong thing by chasing a hot stock/sector, or selling when all looks lost.
