Haven't updated the browser wars lately. Chrome continues to gain steadily, now 4% ahead of IE; IE continues to fall. Firefox has levelled off at a lower level. Check StatCounter.
Makes sense. I jumped ship IE - Firefox years ago. Then Firefox got bloated and slow and I jumped to Chrome. Chrome is by far the best browser on the market. Unless Google screws something up big time, I think they've won the browser war.
Google used to be Mozilla's main source of funding. Now I believe the level of support has diminished. In that sense, Google has been the opponent all along.
If I'm not mistaken, both Chrome and Safari are based on Webkit. Safari is also gaining steadily. In that sense, Open Source is another main opponent.
