Microsoft could eliminate most - but not all - of the complaints about W8 if they allowed users to chose which desktop best fit their device. But there's no reason to force the public to wait. They need to announce it immediately and deliver it promptly. However, for Microsoft to do this they would have to abandon its "our way or the highway" attitude and become customer focused. I'm doubtful but we shall see.
MSFt can chose the best time to do this. However, anyone who is not buying Win8 will most liklely be buying Windows 7. Since Win 7 costs more, MSFt acturally make more money this way.
The matter is, Win 8 represents the future sicne this is the ay to standadize all user interfaces among corporations to cosumewrs, from desktops to notebooks, from tablest to smarphones , then to x-boxes.
It is best to look at the world perhaps 10 years from now, not just 5 days from now. If we want the world to simplfy things, msft is the company who will be able to make it happen!
