    • Mafei thought the stock was overvalued $50 ago. The problem is he'll keep at it until he purchases enough stock to cover 475 million employee options.

Mafei's comments contradict recent statements by Gates and their Sales VP (wharever his name is, Bau.. something or other)

Long term players have been though this before, but its never pretty -- like the flu, you know you'll survive.

We need to email the SOB and Gates and demand that the give accurate statements at these conference calls. Conservative is okay, lunacy is not

    • concerning imaginery new probe which is then carried all day long on cnbe-or story about the 12 State AG"s seeking to get cut in for publicity and money-and who dont give a doamn about the american people. Little shits like Dennis Vacco the whacko from newyork state (i'm resident here)-they going to try and get injunction l I got abaseball bat that i would like to rap against the face frontally of that lshit.

    • Golongmyboy, I am a long termer. I certainly am aware of the price drop in MSFT stock, just as I have been aware when many previous downward spikes have occurred over the past 11 years that I have been a MSFT stock owner.

I never felt, however, that those temporary downward spikes cost me any money. Just look at the stock price chart covering the past 11 years and you will see why I feel that way. The present downturn in price should be treated no differently than all the others, unless, of course, you are a short termer. Then, unfortunately, you may hurt yourself if you sell while it's off it's peak price---but why do that?

Hang in there if you have confidence in the company. If you don't have such confidence, then maybe you errored in buying into MSFT in the first place. Don't panic. Cool heads will prevail.

    • I am not a big fan of conspiracy theories.
Mafei and MSFT can't afford to get a rep as
stock price manipulators(or at least they
      cant afford to get caught!).

Also, If you are right, FINE.
That means that they can blow off the Stock Option
liability on the balance sheet for cheap!

If you are a long term holder, you will ride out
this little squall, and find that the balance
sheet is stronger because of this little scam.

The only people it hurts is the quick trade
artists, who get their fingers stuck in the door.

      IN SUMMARY:
If it was a Scam, Great.
If it was not a Scam, then there is nothing
      to talk about.

    • Don't panic is the name of the game. I've seen Microsoft do this time and time again. If the sky is clear next week with no potholes in the market, Microsoft will surely pass 100. With earnings that they got, will surely pave the way to that number. You may want to consider buying more at the lower price to bring down your cost averaging so when it does go up, you will make a bigger bundle.
Once again, don't panic. It was just a profit taking two days. The buyers should come in on Monday. Although I don't know if you'll get Microsoft at 92 1/4, but hang in there. If your long, say to hold for a year, you can easily say that you will make at least 50%.

      Good Luck

    • Me, too....bought the May 100 calls at 1 3/4. WAS going
to panic until today's slide. Bought May 95 calls instead
at 2 3/8. Maybe I'm an idiot, too, but I believe Monday
we'll see a reversal to the upside. At least I'm hoping....

    • However, it is never a good idea to buy just before options expiry. It's a helpful general rule to have a calendar with witching days marked in red.

They can make good buying days, sometimes. And the red marks serve as a reminder to not buy in on a pre-witching high.

Yes, MSFT will go up. In my opinion, which is worth exactly $.00. Take care.

      • i bought the May 100 calls 2 days ago....they still have 3 weeks to go before expiration. my big hope is (and maybe a BIG hope) that MS will go above 100 in that time frame. Sold a covered call option too for may 100.
What do u think? did i give myself time?
I, like others, thought the earnings news would pop MS up above 100......well i was wrong. It was apparent that the run-up had occured already and the shorts were in a good position for the fall.
Anyway, I appreciate your comments and would welcome your reply.

        Thanks
