What are the odds of flipping a nickel & landing on the edge?
If it takes you longer, and I can read the time you repy, than 3 minutes, you are a C- in physics. Heads & Tails are not 50-50 probability. After a nickel, then calculate a penny. You need a no. 2 pencil, ready, begin____%
A program called, if I remember at Purdue, called BASIC, can easily be programed to flip a coin a million times. It's as close to 50, 50 as one can get with standard of error. ie, H=4,999,994 T- 500,006
Edge is not factored.
Time caught me. I did the '''nicke'''l and got P= 1/6000. In a vaccumm of course. I did not conside surface area landed upon or height.
Penny, I think is roughly P= 1/1,000,000
ONCE ON THE TWIGHLIGHT ZONE,OLD B & W, A MAN THREW THE NEWSPAPER BOY A QUARTER AND IT LANDED ON THE EDGE. FACT IS THOUGH, HEADS/TAILS CAN'T BE 1/2, I agree with that hypothesis. It's never happened in the superbowl.
