I'm still seeing a lot of JCP ads. Lots of TV ads, internet ads, and newspaper inserts. I'm seeing an increase in JCP store traffic and customers at the registers especially over the last few weeks from visits to JCP stores in the Chicagoland area.
Same trend in Dallas TX. Checked Wednesday early afternoon. Store packed with Back to school shoppers, but then jewerly area is busy too. Same with Sephora. It's definitely busier than Macy's which is adjacent to it.
"An exciting new store will open on Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Gateway Center in Brooklyn. My preopening visit was a special treat for the eyes since I could not spend any money in the store yet. It is the first time that
there is a J.C.Penney store in that borough – there are J.C. Penney stores in Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. It is a major event for the company – and it is a WOW both in layout and design"
BUT BUT BUT Brick and Mortar is finished, right?...The Shorts said it, so it must be true.
When I went on JCP website I was surprised 3 JCP's were within 25 miles of me. I saw my first JCP TV commercial for back to school yesterday. Their competitors are out spending them on advertising in Myrtle Beach, SC. JCP is #14 on most shorted stocks and index funds. Who knows which way this one is going.
