    European Taxes

Jeff Bezos has been telling the AMZN lemmings, I mean 'investors', that he is not worried about sales taxes because Amazon has been successful in places where Amazon does collect sales tax. As is Jeffy's typical fashion, that is not quite the truth. Google, Starbucks and Amazon have been getting away with collecting and paying a lot less taxes than their competitors. Before you think this affects all three companies the same, Google and Starbucks make a lot of money. Amazon has only been squeeking by even with this tax advantage. Google and Starbucks will collect and pay tax and keep on rolling. Add the real tax burden on Amazon and the earnings hole it is in will only get bigger!

    • I have a friend who owns AMZN because he likes their business model.
But lately he's been buying products at Target and Apple because time
is more precious to him than avoiding sales tax.

On a different note, 6 months ago I bought grandma a
Roku tv set top box along with a Netflix subscription.
I also gave the Netflix password to several family members.
Netflix has cleverly designed their service to be shared as long as
only one movie is being streamed at a time.
As our Netflix viewing has increased, we have had to buy more subscriptions.
At $8/month, I don't see how Amazon Prime ($80/year) can compete with Netflix.
Its too big of an incremental jump and they don't have as many movies and tv shows.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell
