To Be Ditched: DuPont SubPerformance Chemicals & Fluoroproducts?

Deutsche Bank Reports DuPont Execs May Be Looking At Dumping Venerable Chemicals Unit

    Good Morning, Bonjour, Guten Tag,

Readers, since Monday, April 22, 2013, when a prominent analyst with Deutsche Bank, David Begleiter, told the media DuPont Management was likely looking at dumping their TIO2 business, we have been wondering: Does this make sense, walking away from about the last arena in which the much diminished DuPont is still a world leader?

We will speculate as to the thinking in Fortress Wilmington:

    * Sneering at nasty chemicals, DuPont Chieftess, Ellen Kullman feels much more comfortable in the kitchen with her corn, and beans and Danisco food additives. Her will be done. Never mind that intensely focussed leaders of the world's largest and most successful chemical company, BASF, are proud to be in the chemicals business.

    * Chinese spies and Chinese nationals on the DuPont payroll have done a great job in the past in spiriting DuPont's advanced TIO2 know-how to the Peoples Republic of China. The Chinese will soon be eating DuPont's lunch in TIO2 production and sales.

    * To be avoided: scores of lawsuits cropping up in Ohio and West Virginia wherein women and men are cogently claiming insidious exposure to DuPont's extraordinarily toxic, cancer-causing Teflon chemical, C8 or PFOA, has disastrously impacted their health and lives.

    * The much touted Kullman Koolant, HFO1234yf refrigerant for A/C in cars, is floundering, effectively blocked from a third of the global new car market after be rejected on SAFETY grounds by Daimler-Benz, VW, and BMW. Dumping DuPont SubPerforming Chemicals gets the big bosses out of this mess (the Imprelis of DuPont auto supplies?) and potential big write-downs down the road.

Merely the morning commentary and perspective of one individual investor and long-time student of the

    dismantled, dismembered DuPont...funfun..

    • Advanced chemicals are a huge enabler. Yes some chemicals have serious drawbacks and safety concerns, but many others make it possible to advance quality of life. PS: I never trusted teflon.... I only cook with cast iron and stainless steel kitchenware.
