The Fuels America Coalition - Progressive Corny Capitalists exploiting Americans

US oil industry says study finds fuel pump damage from higher ethanol blends
    Washington (Platts)--29Jan2013/1237 pm EST/1737 GMT

Gasoline blended with 15% ethanol caused failure in a "substantial" portion of fuel pumps and other components in a test designed to represent 29 million vehicles approved to use the fuel, according to a study the Coordinating Research Council released Tuesday.

The study tested fuel system components such as pumps, dampers, level senders and injectors used in model year 2001-2007 vehicles. Automakers and the oil industry paid for the report.

The US Environmental Protection Agency approved the so-called E15 blend for all cars made in 2001 or later, but some automakers have warned that owners risk voiding their warranties if they use it. The fuel continues to face extremely limited availability in the US since a Kansas marketer first offered it last summer."

American we made a huge mistake an elected Obama again.

BUt we have our own natural gas. Let us use it to benefit us all. 40% reduction in co2 as well.

    • All gasoline in Brazil contains 20% ethanol- and has since the '80s. 100% alcohol cars have been available since then too.
I've owned a gasoline (20% ethanol) powered car here in BZ since '95 and now own a flex fuel car.
No problems with any of those items you mentioned, and have not heard one mention of fuel pump etc problems from either my friends or my mechanic. NOT ONE MENTION OF THOSE PROBS.
There is a big problem with mufflers rotting out due to excess water from alcohol burning.

      • Yea - I am going to disbelieve all the insurance and industry tests with public results showing ethanol damages car engineer. By the way there is no dispute that 10% ethanol has excessively worn or outright destroyed all the small engines - boats and law mowers - of Americans.

Verses an EPA which approved e85 without disclosure of the much higher prices due to lower energy content to Americans left alone the above studies. Not to mention this EPA was legally and morally bound to cut the mandate due to the disruption and exploding price of corn.

        You post NONSENSE.

[ this is true according to the fox network news] But you can also choose between fuels, if you wish too. So as americans we have choices again for us. They are not making you use E15 with other pumps at the stations offering you the same gas that you have been using. You act as if we have NO choices anymore.

    • Board members...some people seem to forget that it takes 'a lot of natural gas' to make ethanol (not just corn)....voodoo economics and monkey talk, will never make us money, but common sense will..! $tagg...!

    • If one looked up the definition of "pseudo-intellectual" in Webster's the first synonym would be "Norris."
