There is an American mother who over came all to raise her son into a fine Ameriman.
Durant: It comes from my family. I went to a Christian school. I was always intrigued simply about how we got here. Why do we do the things we do? Who made us like this? My mom always sat me down and talked to me and I have spiritual teachers that help me out. I’m not perfect at all by any means. I’ve got a long way to go to become closer to the Lord but hopefully I can continue to stay on the path. I might take a few steps forward and take a couple steps back and take some steps forward, but I want to get better.
It’s unbelievable to know. It’s good to see other people walk with the Lord too. We do so much in this league. A lot of people don’t know how they got these gifts and how they’re portraying them on the floor. It’s always good to let people know where all this stuff came from. To see other players in the league doing the same thing is a joy.
Poor Mr. Varney, this fine young American will probably be on the Daily Show very soon. BUt maybe there is a reason for this.
Good for him. But how many times have we heard stories such as his coming from a broken poor family. Only to have sports lift them up. They are always thanking the lord and pointing up after a made basket or a touch down. But yet are cursing up a storm or ready to fight at the drop of a hat. But hey they are always thanking the lord as though he is watching the game.
The NBA is sadly full of physically gifted men of childish character. The ugly n word is enough by itself but sadly the beginning rather than the end.
Gifted children can beat full grown men at games. But that does not make them men.
A grown person can understand why younglings without the opportunity or understanding to develop more than one talent, act as they do. What cannot be rationalized away is why the elder players with more worldly experience do not offer to teach by simply setting the example and more if requested.
I also believe a true man would join a fine American in honoring the strength, sacrifice and perseverance of a woman. Americans used to call that sand, grit or substance. The character element not defined by power, so not defined by sex. What counted?
Boomers grew to full physical size and now into old age. Now games younglings can play have never been so important by measure of the obscene amount of money generated.
Why is it in our professional sports the younglings who train hard and develop their physical; lottery odds, gifts most often end up divorced and bankrupt in a few short years. Shattered human beings discarded by the mob.
Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.
I say bring back Vince.
Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.
I would say ask not what your country can do for you, is the same idea.
