Tell me what he's like as a man. Because I like him so far.
I read that he fired Ewanick not so much for the deal he made but the denials of how he did it. Basically, for lying to Akerson. You can't put up with a subordinate that lies to you so I'm glad he didn't. What's gonna happen here is, Akerson's going to build a management team that actually can be trusted. I like how he was quoted in Whitacre's book as giving very candid opinions before he became CEO about how messed up GM was. Because it WAS!!
First GM CEO I've respected in many years.
It seems to me GM finally has a LEADER in place with some clear vision of where faults lie.
I cannot understand getting into bed with Peugeot, unless it is just a way to eff with IG Metall (in which case I love it!).
Anyway, for the most part, Akerson is not a clown, or just another weasel in a $1500 suit. I truly hope he can destroy the UAW and rebuild GM again. There is no excuse for any foreign company beating GM but Akerson deserves more time to roll some more heads as needed.
