((((The crossover SUVs being recalled -- Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook -- have a problem that can cause the front seat belt to separate from the car during a crash. GM (GM, Fortune 500) said it is a serious enough problem that it is ordering dealers not to sell new or used models of the vehicles until repairs are made. The model years involved are 2009 to 2014.))))

OK so let me get this straight:

I crash into a bridge abutment.

But instead of a lap belt restraining my lower body and an air bag stopping my pivoting upper body, my seat belt pulls right out of the floor.

This lets me go flying into the steering column at 55mph unrestrained. Except my upper body is suddenly buffeted backward by the explosion of the airbag.

But there is a problem. My legs and feet continue traveling forward at 50+ mph basically PULLING my body along behind, like a whip, and I submarine under the steering wheel, snapping my neck and decapitating me.

When they reach the floorboards, my feet stop. The momentum of my torso begins to overload the bones of my lower legs, shattering the bones.

All this time, the pelvic area continues forward.

An instant later, it impacts what's left of my legs and the floorboards, simultaneously. My pelvis stops, snapping the spine in multiple places.

    The sight is not pretty.
