I bought 200 at 17.96 after it was recommended by the newsletter Energy and Income Advisor which is edited by Elliott GUE who has an excellent reputation on conducting in-depth research behind his recommendations.
Ever since SDR was a disappointment and PER did not seem to do as well as predicted other trusts such as ROYT have been painted with the same brush of skepticism. All three of these trusts ay current prices are good buys with ROYT being the best and SDR being the most speculative due to its high NG production.
For those of you who believe NG is on the rise you might want to check out ECA and PGH. While their payouts are not double digit they should do better in coming months since they are shifting production emphasis to NG liquids which are priced more favorably then NG.
I made good money over the last 4+ years in Oil & Gas MLPs, the likes of PAA, KMP, MWE, WPZ, MMP and ETP, the pipelines and have liquidated all those positions as I believe there are now better returns elsewhere; I also bought LINE & VNR and more recently turned to a Couple Royalty Trusts that many may monthly dividends, the likes of ROYT, SBR, and CHKR, SDR .. they may be more speculative with such a high payout rate ... I find it hard to gather much information on them; management or trustees or whomever do not appear to provide much financial information to prospective investors; I had a large postion in PSE before PXD parent company bought it back; I bought it at $ 10 when it was paying a 20% return and PSE recently in the $ 40 range high paying oil & gas can in the long turn provide a great return; PSE's well had an average 35 year life. I was hoping to hear from this board if they consider ROYT speculative and why it has such a high speculative return; I believe that if well have a 20 year life for example, with the next decade new technology will extend their lives squeezing more black gold out of these well. any comments?
