    Plant Closing

UTC sure knows how to suck the life out of a business and then shut it down without any regard for it's employee's. This just happened to my town. It happened to me. Big corporations don't give a flip about the working man.

    • Too Bad a Town of 4,200 People and here is a Plant that has 300 People Number 2 Employer in Town and what does old UTC do ship their jobs to China and Singapore. This is UTC's contribution to helping out the Umemployment Problem in the US tells you a little something about UTC doesn't it?? The people in Pittsfield would have been better off if UTC did not buy GE Security

    • Do you know the difference between a recession and a depression? A recession is when your friends and neighbors are out of work. A depression is when you are out of work. You, I and thousands of others are experiencing depressions thanks to UTC. And, if they make the financial plan by laying people off, the managers get their incentive bonuses. We cope the best we can. God bless you.

    • Sorry to hear that. Where was the plant and what division?

      • The plant is called Chemetron in Swainsboro, Ga. UTC Fire and Security. Pittsfield Maine was first then us and today we got the news that the Chicago engineering group was going to take a hit. I have been at this location for several years and we have always met our on time deliveries and schedules. Our numbers were always on target or above. Within the last year and a half we have seen the removal of the National Foam (servo command / big flow / foam skid) and Marrioff product lines. This will certainly have an impact on the community here. We are a small town with only a few industrial plants.
