    Experienced Employees?

Many employees at ADI have stayed for 20 years because they are afraid to leave. Sort of similar to a prisoner in a jail. You get used to the sub standard management and practices in the company. The motivation is low and the senior management is greedy.

"ADI does not offer senior employees tenure, nor is ADI a welfare program for the middle class. Anyone resting on their laurels does so at their own risk."

Which is why there is a system, called reviews that allows the employee and the employeer a way of guaging how well they are perfomaning for the company. This system lets the employee a way of knowing when it is time to maove on.

"There will be occasions when some talented employees need to move on. There will also be an occasional mistake in letting an employee go, but the vast majority of these mistakes have little impact on the companys overall performance." Impacting company morale will impact the company's perfomance. If a person dedicated to the company is let go, a less senior person will wonder if their job is next.

"It shouldnt be too surprising that employees need to keep their managers reasonably happy." Which is why there is a review process. Interesting enough however if those managers make poor decisions as leaders, the employees suffer, not the managers.

Interesting enough, ADI used to be a technology company. New ideas would drive the company. Exciting technoloogies and new processes would keep Analog ahead of the competition. Now TI, NSM are far ahead. Is this the fault of the employee or of the leadership?

We are losing market share to other companies such as NSM. Competing in the DSP market we go up agains comapanies like TI, with more experience and deeper pockets. Perhaps it is better sometimes to go back to one's roots and see what we were doing right and where we went wrong along the path.

You still seem to think it is the managers that are the company. It is like saying, if it is was not for the coxswain, the crew would not have won the race. One must realize it takes an entire crew, not one individual. I know, just a few key senior people. So, if a person, inexperienced on the fab line screws up the recipe, there goes a fab bust. Not their fault if you put inexperienced people there.

ADI does not offer senior employees tenure, nor is ADI a welfare program for the middle class. Anyone resting on their laurels does so at their own risk.

That said, there is an optimal number of senior employees needed to run a lean operation. There will be occasions when some talented employees need to move on. There will also be an occasional mistake in letting an employee go, but the vast majority of these mistakes have little impact on the companys overall performance. As such, some freedom can be delegated to middle management. It shouldnt be too surprising that employees need to keep their managers reasonably happy.

    • > Either LG matured

Yes, with time comes experience and knowledge. Jerry isn't flawless, but he is a leader of notable talent.

I agree, I don't remember LG posting for about 2 years before starting posting again recently. Like you said the sentiment of the posts have changed so much.

    • Quite frankly I believe that the username may have been taken up by another person. The sentiment of the posts have changed so much. Either LG matured and got off the whining jag or had a frontal lobotomy.

What make you think this is the same LG? Someone suggessed LG was Jerry. The old LG never praised Jerry but did Ray! Now LG is high on Jerry and took a cheap shot at Ray about the recent bonuses.

    • I find it very amusing to discuss who LG really is. The internal buzz on this person started years ago when he was in the "adi-bashing" mode. Very entertaining posts. Now the posts are a lot less entertaining and rather borish. He's taken to pontification rather than demeaning humor.

    • Your assessment of LG is somewhat correct, however, LG isn't a she. He is one of the DD..

Linear girl's 180 regarding ADI and Jerry can be easily explained.

She, her significant other or a relative wasn't benefiting from Jerry's inspired leadership (and generous stock options) 7+ years ago when she first posted and bashed ADI.
Her contact was most likely an E9 or E11 design engineer looking to be a 'player'. He complained. She posted.. until Jerry's GTC comment scared her off.

Now, in the ensuing 7+ years, her contact has moved up the salary scale to an E13 or higher and collects many options. So, it's now in her financial interest to pump up the management team and stock.

You'll notice she never did answer your posting.

      Regards,

      PG
