Been holding for years.... Finally taking my profits and leaving the party. The competitive landscape for Semiconductor Device Manufacturer markets will simply get treacherous for US companies as the Far East (China, India,....) continues to turn out low cost engineers and their respective governments Subsidize Technology at high multiples in contrast to the USA. This industry had its hay day back in the 70 and 80's and those growth periods are now long gone in the US for this industry. Even Japanese Semiconductor companies are outsourcing to China today. Remember China has no respect for IP !
Looks like quite a few folks sold off their shares today. Stock price is down 1% on relatively low volume...and on an up day. Honestly, there are so many great stocks to buy right now that it's understandable to rotate out of this one. I'll keep holding since this one keeps trending up.
Don't forget that the Semi IDM's are a 6 month leading indicator... Not sure this "tradition" you reference holds here... Only a 9% forecast growth for 2011... that's a killer for this industry that feeds on double digit growth.
Look at a 10 year chart for any Semi player... Its an eye-opener
