I'm not sure if I'm reading the above correctly. Clearly, Royce & Associates (www.roycefunds.com) owns 11.76% of NPK. I can't tell if this is all a recent acquisition or if they've just added to an existing stake.
Anyone able to clarify this?
Obviously, if they just bought 11.76%, it's a huge statement in favor of NPK's value.
Well I was all set to move it down to 30 for you, but then Rincon posted about the new army contract and threw everything off. And with earnings due out in the next few weeks, I don't know if I can pull it off this quarter.
Actually, Royce sold a few shares. Last January (2007) they filed a 13-G/A showing that they owned 827,000 shares of NPK, or about 12.12% of the total. Now they own 804,000, or 11.76%. Royce is very well known as a small cap value investor, so having them as a shareholder is a good sign, just not a new sign.
