Ex-div means "excluding dividend." In order to get the dividend you must own the stock at the close of business on the day before ex-div.
Before the market opens on the ex-div date, the value of the dividend is automatically taken from the stock price. In other words at the market open on ex-div day the opening share price of the stock is the previuous day's share price minus the dividend.
One other thing. I think NCZ and NCV are both a bargain right now.
