Hi, it's fund to speculate on this fund.
If today's holdings resemble 3/31/08 reported, everything is up huge... the only thing that is down is WM, which Ken is short.
Looks like a great day today.
OK - I don't want to jinx us here, but today 6/17 is looking even more perfect in the early hours here. With the exception of AMX (which has been losing alot of steam lately) the 3/31 portfolio is having an incredible day - especially the Brazilian stocks deeper down into the portfolio!!!!
AMX was downgraded to sell by one of the brokers, not too bad of a hit considering. I personally hold AMX outside the fund as well, great company with a superior business model in a growing market. Mexico is beginning to clamp down with regulation of the telcos, though.
Yeah, that damned "earned income" rule is going to potentially bite me in the ass this year. I've been out of work since Dec 2006 because of chronic lyme disease, and am living on tax-free long term disability pay. Thankfully I got bailed out for the 2007 tax year when I was officially laid off for not working for one calendar year -- they cashed in my remaining vacation days and that barely covered the $4k I put into my ROTH that year.
I put $5k into my ROTH in January of 2008, and if I'm not back working by December so I can get a couple of paychecks I'm going to have to withdraw the contribution. I'm not sure yet how to deal with the gains I will make with that specific $5k tax-wise, especially since I've already traded out of my original position with a 40% profit.
It kinda sucks that I'll make more than enough in capitol gains and dividends to cover that $5k, but it doesn't count as income as far as the ROTH rules are concerned (the IRS, of course, has a different slant to it, but my medical bill deductions alone are high enough to cover all my gains).

Success breeds jealousy and contempt, that's human nature. A better approach is to watch and learn the traits of successful people and personally apply those traits, that's how you become successful. What's interesting to me is that I would tend to assume those on the board would be inclined towards improving their knowledge and investment skills, rather than using this board as an outlet for their resentment. I'm obviously better at investing than I am at understanding people.
