Sounds like quality is now in question for NIR ? Maybe the high level executives will be arrested after (as happened at C.R. Bard in 1992) someone is killed from the NIR product that is not to be re-called per Larry Best press release ?? Corporation now laxing quality to make garbage ? How low will stock go ? and how quick ? Just questions ? Does anyone have answers ?
Saw two NIR on Socs placed today in difficult anatomy. The stents both worked very well. There is no way BSC would leave any product on the market that would risk patients. I think the market showed today that these are unfounded rumors. BSC is a strong company that is number one in virtually every division they compete in. With the purchase of Schnieder, their marketshare will only increaser plus add to the pipeline for future devices.
NIR has been blessed by every doc at every conference I've been to or heard about.
PaineWebber's research paper dated 7/15/98 lowered BSX's eps yet they even stated their target price for BSX to be $100 by mid 1999 (not taking into account the split).
The same NIR that is selling in US has been selling in Euorpe for along time. It is the best selling stent there and will be in the US soon, especailly at the rate they are flying out the door. Manufacturing can't keep up with the demand. In fact BSX has limited the number of hospitals that can order because of the demand.
Bet: BSX will go up more than it goes down for the next month. I expect it to be around 80 at spilt and then ever upward.
Looking at today's price I would say the stock has rebounded from the rumor and therefore most of the rumor has been taken into account as just competitive scare tactics.
If you don't think the other stent mfgrs aren't shaking in their boots with the NIR now out you are sorely mistaken.
