I have observed Rimtards for some time and I know their behavior well. With each product launch they scan the specs of the Rim device looking for a spec of differentiation over the Iphone so they can boast that the Blackberry reigns supreme. NFC has been around for decades and has repeatedly failed to gain traction on mobile devices. If you were on this board 2 years ago Rimtards were proud that BB7 would soon come with NFC and predicted Apple phones were in trouble without it. Do rimtards use their NFC on the BB7? Of course not. Most have dumped the BB7.
The wise company picks and choses which features to add to their phone instead of trying to out spec their competitors. They are concerned with the overall user experience. I still remember Android manufacturers trying to outspec each other. Tech geeks were claiming the phone with an HDMI out was far superior than one without. Except one problem. What do you do when you get a phone call while you are sending video via an HDMI out port. That phone failed miserably. It appears that RIM is trying to market NFC as it's differentiator vs competition. We will soon see if RIM has chosen the wrong road like they did when they claimed that flash on the playbook was going to be a big differentiator.
RIM has a history of misjudging what will be popular on mobile computing. And RImtards have a history of touting features that will be judged by history as failures.
well if you travel a bit outside north america, you will see that the rest of the world is all about NFC. this tech is only taking time in NA because we are always behind in technology. but it is only a matter of tiem before it is all over here.

Doesn't Samsung Galaxy SIII have NFC?? How's Apple fairing against this phone?? According to your logic Apple must be crushing Samsung :)
