Both are American based corporations and I'm sure the management of each company knows the other well and they respect each other.
Any merger would probably be super-friendly and FCX would pay a premium to have NEM. But the combined company would be stronger and FCX would be acquiring operations in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It would be a good move for FCX and shareholders in the long run. I don't you'll have to worry about your stock price. It will go up.
The economy in my opinion is gradually improving here and will be improving worldwide.
NEM has a younger management team and the combination will provide a greater talent base for management succession.
You know Hold there certainly is a business justification for FCX to do a big time merger as you suggest. When you consider all the foreign properties where we are mining these critical metals and how unstable the governments are in those regions it does make sense to be a larger entity to deal with the unstable and sometimes terrorisic governments.
