You must be talking about one of the oriignal cheesey low end Single serve pods sold by gmcr. I agree that is dishwater -- as are many of gmcr's low priced SS pods.
Yet that reality has nothing to do with the premium brands such as SBUX pods (who does pay gmcr a small licensing fee) or PEET and now Whole Foods coffees which are excellent coffee and not even expensive vs gmcr's proprietary blends. Try some of these dark roast options to see whati mean -- they really are great and all of my kids like the PEET and SBUX Italian roast pods the best which explains why SBUX pods are the number one selling brand. Poor gmcr... invent a niche and then lose exclusivity shortly thereafter as the big boys position to do their own unencumbered (by license fee at all or any substance) on their own pods.
GMCR has more rev slowdown and margin crimp coming, but not DNKN or SBUX or KKD when they have a SS pod for the various brewers now available off patent.
