At least based on LCA's terrible results. Perhaps today's strength is from the relief that Staar is not much exposed to the US market. Still, Spain, S. Korea present there own challenges... Staar probably needs a turnaround in sentiment in China to add to increasing sales in Japan. Seems many of the big funds have increased positions at end last year... supporting price.
You say " today's strength is from the relief that Staar is not much exposed to the US market"?
So.....as I understand your thought, because Staa has failed miserably to grow sales in the US, it's actually a..... strength? Wow! That statement gives new meaning to the Staa spin machine. Next thing you know, Staa will rewrite history and claim a non-GAAP adjustment for it's "strength" in the US!
Oh I suspect the price jump is because some shorts are having to cover. If you haven't noticed, their pain has increased in recent weeks, at the minimum shown by some recent postings and creative edits of the forum. Simple fact is that not that many shares are in hands that can be manipulated like that anymore. So I think there is covering going on, and even some indication that shorts are preying upon dumber shorts to provide them cover. Anyway, that's my impression.
he he,,, see the posts pop up? Frankly, you could see this hapening in the volume and trading patterns the last 3 trading days or so. My guess is that some dumb short was talked into shorting shares that some smarter short picked up, and then the tap ran dry on those shares today. Justa guess. You could sorta see their fear increase in postings when Staar moved up its release date by about a week.
