    • I'd agree. I actually hope things do go well under Obama's second term. I'm still bullish, especially longer term. Get's back to the old story. Either the bond market is right, or the stock and gold markets are right. I vote with the latter 2 . I'd rather have some inflation than deflation. Controlling the inflation is the hard part and that is the only reason I bought some GLD.

M&A is big.....I just saw PCLN buyout Kayak last week. I expect this kind of thing to continue. Why not do some acquisitions.....the interest rate environment says to do it.

I went through my grumpy back to the future. Gotta keep on livin' and investing.

      • OK, lets see if I can depress you.

Have we ever seen an economy right itself through money printing and continued deficit spending?

Obama spends trillions more than comes in for 4 years in a row and the economy hardly grows in real terms. The proof is declining median incomes and standards of living.

As long as deficits are a larger % of GDP than the growth rate is , it means a deeper hole is being dug.

And given that we've had population growth, GDP should grow if all else held constant.

Seems to me, that increased govt spending and interference in the economy is not only unproductive, its doing harm.

Keep in mind, the states and cities aren't exactly balancing their budgets either.

So what we have seen in theory should have been hugely stimulative deficit spending by all levels of govt that has literally done very little in terms of helping the economy.

But the debt is certainly piling up.

I heard this AM that Fed govt spending has doubled in the last 10 years and most of that happened in the last 4 years..

    • A turn-around in the housing market is stimulating M & A activity. This is as good a signal as it gets that better days are on the way.
