    Embrace The Cliff

We didn't buy weapons for the cold war. We bought weapons to prevent a repeat of the greatest man made disaster in history. So far, it has worked.

    • Perhaps you didn't get it regarding weapons systems; I thought it was obvious, maybe not. It's not that we bought cold war weapons systems during the cold war; it's that we're still buying them. Newsflash: the cold war is over; we won.

      • Well, that is fine. I never cared much for the cold war anyway. The fact still remains, we didn't produce weapons for the cold war. We produced them as a deterrent to prevent those little problems like WWII. What ever we spent and continue to spend to avoid minor problems like WWII was and still is a bargain. Yes, I got what you said and I got what you said about buying them for the cold war. The problem is, we didn't even buy a BB gun for the cold war since no shots were fired. What we did was likely prevent a new disaster even greater than WWII. Again, we got a bargin. Back in the 1930's we had all kinds of people demanding disarmament and they got it. They also got the most terrible man made disaster in history.
