    Eliquis and A-Fib

    I was talking to a doctor who specializes in the treatment of A-Fib about six months ago. He was very excited by the prospects of using Eliquis with his patients when it was approved. He didn't come out and directly say it, but I don't think he was real thrilled with Pradaxa. I believe Eliquis proved safer and more effective than Warfarin, and that appears to put it in a class by itself. Good to be long! IMHO.

    • my doctor didn't have any problem telling me his problems with pradaxa, which was:

      if you should suddenly require surgery, you would have to wait over 24 hours for the blood to overcome the effects of pradaxa.

      those on coumadin could simply be put on heparin for to reduce the effects of coumadin.

      i'll stick with coumadin (as i have for the last 8 years or so)
