Not exactly a recipe for success. They must start charging bag fees and change fees and cut wages. We ain't runnin' a soup kitchen here. Southwest is no longer the little airline that thought it could. It is the largest carrier in the US if not the world. Why would a company not charge for a service all others are charging. With all major US carriers restructuring ( screwing ) in bankruptcy, Southwest is now at a distinct disadvantage. Stock price will not recover until they grow earnings and that will not happen until they increase revenue ( charge bag fees and change fees ) and decrease costs. ( cut wages ) It's not rocket science.
Well the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels need to cut payroll as well but come what may despite all the $$$$$ that The Halos paid Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson i haven't heard of any plans of the Angels, Yanks, and Bosox, selling their stadiums to a condo developer and suspending operations.
To many people overthink things.
Read near the end of this article. They can't charge for bags and be next to the worst at delivering. The customers don't complain because they are flying cheap and don't expect a lot.
BS. DOT ratings for NOV show SWA mishandled 3.00 bags/1000 pax is vs USAIR's 2.24/ 1000 pax...... IOW, three quarters of a bag/ 1000 pax more. Then throw in the fact that SWA carries more than twice the pax of LCC ( 2.2 to 1 ), and that's looking pretty good. If you want to talk about complaints , lets look at that too. LCC carries 40% of SWA pax load, yet generates 3 times the complaints. On-time ? SWA wins again, even after LCC's route retrenchments, 86.8% to 85.3%. Maybe you guys should be more concerned with your ops and less worried about ours.
