Shafts have all been bent. These have to be replaced.
100% of the collection buoys are gone! A collection buoy is a connection buoy the tankers hook up to located between rigs that maintains a safe distance from the rigs but close enough to take on the production with submursed hoses fastened to the buoys from several rigs.
It will be months before ANY GOM rig is ready to resume operations.
On land, five refineries are almost demolished - not simply flooded as the oil companies said. Those refineries have very complex boilers, crackers and miles of bent pipes cause by debris hitting them at 160 MPH. They will quite simply have to be totally rebuilt - not simply drained and dried out!
