Yes, the stock split. The greater question is why its value has barely risen at all over the past year. Vanguard Energy Fund, reflective of overall energy investments, did about 2.5% for the year ended 1/31/07, which is also lousy, but in 2005 it had a massive run, just like OXY. We expect more from OXY tho because it's supposed to be a superior company, but it isn't pulling value for us yet. I have my suspicions but I don't think it's proper to air them, as some of them may be a little far out. But management needs to feel some heat. Is executive pay gone over the top? Are foreign bribes causing dilution? Are reserves accurate? Is the good news being downplayed for political purposes? It's time for some confidence-building, factbased rhetoric.
