Finally, beaten down OmniVision (OVTI) could be the sensor supplier for the Nexus 5 camera. The OV8850 is an 8-megapixel sensor made with 1.1-micron technology. OmniVision already supplied the camera sensor for Google’s 10.5 megapixel Clear Pixel camera on the Moto X.
Ironically, the Moto X, with all Omnivision sensors is a far more innovative phone than the iPhone 5S, but it will never sell as well of course because the iPhones have far better brand image and status. That being said, I expect Omnivision to continue to have at least one sensor in each Apple device, while also continuing to grow with Android smartphones and tablets in emerging markets.
I have been saying this to myself for 2 years now. I bought this junk at $16, and it hasn't really gone anywhere, unfortunately. Sales got a lot better the PE just drops from 22 to 11. Go figure. Whatever, Sometimes you pick a dud, which is what this stock is.
