For some reason, the market maker was told to keep the big nat gas/e&p stocks down until April options expired. Now that they've passed without any out of the money call buyers being paid, they can let it rip higher. It's called Wall Street, folks, and we don't have a chance.
I tend to agree that starting next week, a lot of stocks will bounce back, unless there are other issues. Stock options expiration after a big surge in stocks causes this sell out called locking in your profit.
