I agree that I'll have to get a new one. I was actually thinking of upgrading the RAM to 2GB to get me to next yr. If that didn't work I'd have to just get another one and donate this one to a charity for the tax deduction... Thx
there's your problem. 1 gb is not enough. plus a labtop probably has onboard graphics not a seperate card. If you get another laptop go to www.hp.com and build your own with a graphics card and 2gb ram. a 7200ppm hard drive is nice too if you have alot of hardrine access. you can get one for about $1200.00. the ones in the store are prebuild wiht the crappest stuff. that needs upgraded about every year or two. build your own and it should last for about 3-5 yrs. You save money in the long run.
Thanks for all the computer info gents.
matt- I've heard of firefox before and I'll probably try it out.
lionel- I'll try that too.
unseen- I'm using a 2yr old gateway laptop with an AMD Turion64 and 1GB Ram with XP. I'm planning on getting a new one next yr but I like sitting in my "office" (recliner in front of TV) with a laptop.
lol yeah I bought a 42in LCD tv on black friday too. came home placed a trade on DE options and paid for it. got to love the market.
PS. as far as your freezing issue. sounds like you need to upgrade too. What are your specs?
"My cheap A@@ company is actually upgrading computers because they are failing. If that company has to upgrade then the upgrade cycle is truly in bull mode."
--> Now "that's some good research". Yep, when the frugal start spending you know it's a good cycle. I love it.
P.S. I'm in the cheap camp too (I like to think of it as "frugal") ;-) I just bought my first LCD TV this yr (day after turkey)... Not the 60"+ TV that many people have but at 42" it was an upgrade from my old 27" TV. That's a good indicator for TV sales this yr...
Sounds like your specs not your browser. I have an hp amd 64 5000 cpu computer with 2gb memory, 512mb nividia 7600 video card. Have never had any problems with freezing up. My internet connection sometimes can't update the cahrts quick enough but that's a different problem, lol.
your problem sounds like the video card and/or memory. what do you have?
I may be a newbie when it comes to trading, but I know a lot about computers and windows. I strongly recommend that you switch to firefox. You can download it from the following link:
I commonly have 12+ firefox windows/tabs open without issue. It's very stable. Firefox is also more secure than explorer. Not sure what type of computer you have, but you may need a RAM upgrade as well. A lot of personal computers are shipped with inadequate RAM.
