The most important issue at the moment is the conference. Did anyone hear what was said?

    • As I said earlier, I missed the beginning of the presentation. But what I heard sounded very promising. I was especially interested to learn that Japan is now the number three market for UGGs, after the UK and the Benelux (which mainly means the Netherlands). Also, I was pleased to learn that there are now licensed UGG stores (i.e., not owned by DECK) in such places as Seoul and Moscow, and that they expect more licensed stores elsewhere in the future -- in places such as Latin America and the Middle East. They're opening new company-owned stores at a very high rate, too, and they are very profitable. They pay for themselves in an average of one year.

I had noticed recently that UGGs do extremely well in Japan. On the UGG Japan website, one can see that a lot of Classics are sold out in most sizes, for example -- which I might add made me wonder why the company cannot resupply the Japan warehouse. An interesting tidbit is that they sell UGG Classic Minis as a men's boot in Japan, and the last time I looked they were completely sold out in all three colors. Why not sell Minis for men elsewhere? I myself wear Minis that I bought in a women's size. Japanese women have also decimated the Mini supply. The Classic Shorts do very well for both men and women in Japan, too. Another tidbit: Japanese seem to like light colors in all footwear. I've noticed interesting preferences in different international markets that I could also describe.

Too bad others on this board don't post more information about what they have learned about sales patterns. They seem to prefer having insult contests.
